Trishna and we…

Meet Trishna Sarkar, a young woman from Karpashdanga village, whose journey is a testament to resilience and determination.

Growing up in a family with limited means, Trishna faced countless hardships. Her father, Mithu Sarkar, worked as a daily laborer, making it difficult to support the family. As the eldest of two siblings, she carried many responsibilities from a young age.

At just eight years old, Trishna left home to live in a hostel so she could continue her education. But financial struggles made it increasingly difficult. In class six, she moved in with her aunt Lokkhi, a skilled jute rug producer. While continuing her studies, Trishna learned the craft of rug-making, earning enough to support herself through school.

After completing her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2019, Trishna pursued her dream of becoming a midwife. She had seen firsthand how women in her village struggled to find trained professionals for safe childbirth. However, the cost of tuition was a major obstacle. With BaSE’s support, she was able to continue her studies. When she couldn’t afford the final semester fees, BaSE stepped in again to help her reach the finish line.

Today, Trishna works at a local clinic, providing essential healthcare to women in her community. With her income, she not only supports her family but also ensures her younger brother can continue his education.

Trishna believes that strength and self-confidence can help overcome any obstacle. She is deeply grateful to BaSE, which she calls a lifeline for women striving for a better future. Now, her dream is to serve the poorest and ensure every mother receives the care she deserves.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate Trishna and countless other women who rise above challenges to create a brighter future. 💜✨
